Tropic Island Resort is centrally located in the heart of Port Aransas,TX with close proximity to the beach, restaurants, docks, piers, parks, birding and shopping. Tropic Island Resort offers an array of accommodations such as hotel rooms, cottages (with full kitchens and living rooms), and luxury RV sites to fit even the largest RV or Motorhome.
From Aransas Pass:
Take 361 across the free ferry. Take your first right after exiting the ferry landing on to Cutoff Rd in Port Aransas. Tropic Island is 3 blocks on the left.
From Corpus Christi and Padre Island:
Take 361 the length of Mustang Island to Port Aransas. Past 2 blinking yellow lights, is the first stop light. Turn left on to Cutoff Rd/Avenue G. Tropic Island Resort is 4 blocks on the right.
Decently quiet place to stay within a few miles of the ocean. If you aren't from the area be sure to pick up a beach pass at IGA or gas station. Good for the year. It will save you on an expensive ticket..🙄 Only downfall to the Tropic Island Resort are the nasty prickers. Ending up in the dogs paws and our toes.
The showers are too small and you have to bend down to wash your hair. You have to turn your dirty towels in yourself and get new ones, we tried to get clean towels all day and the linen exchange wasn't open and had to wash the towels on our own with our own money. We also went to the hot tub but the gate was locked two hours ahead of closing time, we called and they said it was closed due to rain but they didn't leave a note anywhere notifying their guests.
We booked a room for 3days then we stayed extra night the staff was nice at first until we checked out until we got a phone call said that and that we smoked inside the room knowing we didn't. They said was going to charge 250.00 for smoking inside the room Knowing that we didn't. We smoked outside. The lady was very rude on the phone I don't appreciate it at all.and I don't like it you called a liar so if are a smoker so don't stay here .The messed up thing is there is no smoking sign on the door .
If you want to be with your family and rest, you can't have a grill and they filled the entire room with smoke, people arrive at all hours making a lot of noise at full volume, the rooms are very close so there is no rest. Poor cleaning, the floor is super dirty, the beds were clean and the bathroom. If you're going to party, it's fine.
I recently booked a room with this property & enjoyed almost every aspect of their hotel. I will say what I liked about the hotel and then I will say what ruined the entire stay.
The property is very clean. The room was updated & spacious. Not to mention the heated pool was awesome. My family & i were already planning our next stay because we liked it that much!
With that being said…the very next morning after checking in I get a phone call from a disgruntled elderly front desk employee immediately stating that we had “several problems”. At this point, I am very concerned & confused. She goes on to scold me like a child in the most rude tone stating that she had gotten complaints about my guests sitting on our porch till early morning hours making too much noise. They had no music on, we’re talking amongst themselves & never once made any disturbances that could even be heard from inside our room. She made sure to tell me “we don’t do that here!”multiple times. I am very well aware of the normal “quiet hours” rule but I didn’t know it meant you had to stay inside your room completely after 10pm. Regardless, there is a right & wrong way to speak to people. I respectfully apologized & she then went on to make false accusations. As I’m trying to explain myself, she’s interrupting me. I apologized multiple times & she just kept going. I was almost in tears & distraught after the phone call & after calming down I decided to ask my mom & aunt who were also guests at the hotel to go with me to the front desk to get more exact info on the complaints. I was honestly scared of speaking to this woman alone. I approached very respectfully as they stood back. She was very upset at the fact that I brought other people into the office with me & I relayed that she made me feel THAT uncomfortable & THAT anxious that I felt I had to. She even spoke to my aunt very rudely pointing her finger at her & stating that “it was none of her business & had nothing to do with her” when in fact it did as I was being blamed for her car alarm going off in the morning. Even after all of this occurred, I still spoke to her respectfully & apologized multiple times for things that were out of my control. I pleaded with her just to not treat me like that & she showed no remorse. I have NEVER been treated this way by any business & she completely ruined my experience at this hotel. She never apologized once for speaking to me the way she did or for assuming. After seeing some of the other reviews, it’s obvious this women’s behavior is recurrent & uncontrollable. She should be ashamed of herself & should not be the person dealing with guests. Just aggressive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Even days later I’m honestly still in shock that this happened & hope nobody else is made to feel like this by this woman! Do better Tropic island resort.
