About Campground

Peekamoose Valley: The Peekamoose Valley (County Route 42 in the Town of Denning) is a popular rustic camping area. Camping permits are now required to reserve primitive tent sites from May 15- September 15 of each year. Camping is restricted to reserved, designated campsites marked with the yellow camping symbol. Visit Reserve America (leaves DEC website) to make a reservation.

Lower Field: Camping is restricted to 12 designated sites. Permits can be obtained from Reserve America.

Directions

To Peekamoose Valley Primitive Campsites and Trails: Take Route 28 from Kingston or Boiceville to 28A (wraps around the southern side of the Ashokan Reservoir, New York City's water supply) to Watson Hollow Road (County Route 42), then continue south past the Kanape Trailhead. The Peekamoose Mountain Trailhead and campsites will be on your right several miles down. As an alternative, take State Route 209 to State Route 55 to a right on County Route 153 (bordering the west side of the Rondout Reservoir, just before Grahamsville), then continue on Route 153 (Sundown Road) till it becomes Route 42 (Peekamoose Road). Campsites and trailhead are on your left. (41.91590°N, 74.443422°W) Google Maps (leaves DEC website)

Amazing spot to explore during the off peak season. Plenty of parking and no permit required.

Epic place to go hiking. Across the street from the blue hole there are amazing waterfalls. The hole itself is kinda lame.

Really enjoyed this place

It was tricky to find but it was right off the road. No fees or anything. Water was ice cold (saw ice/snow still on the mountain) but soo blue and beautiful. Went in the Spring time, its not so crowded but heard it does get crowded. Mini waterfalls on the way.

A small hike down the road and we can reach this place. A nice play to just get into water and enjoy. The water is extremely cold and it takes some time to get into water and adjust to the cold temperature. We weren’t able to see the blue color but we got to see the emerald green. This has permit to be entered and they limit the permit to 50 passes a day during May - Sep. permits are obtained online through reserve america website.
