Take the Virtual Tour! - WILDWOOD STATE PARK

Wildwood State Park comprises 600 acres of undeveloped hardwood forest, terminating on the high bluff overlooking Long Island Sound. Swimmers can take advantage of the cool waters of the Sound, and picnickers can relax at shaded picnic tables as their children enjoy the nearby playground. Visitors can fish and use the hiking and cross-country ski trails, making this an enjoyable place to camp and be outdoors in any season.

Geography:

Wildwood State Park is located near Long Island Sound, on the north shore of Long Island, in Suffolk County.

Recreation:

Considered a flagship facility, visitors can enjoy the beach, biking, camper recreation programs, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and cross-country skiing. During July and August, movies are shown weekly, and once a week, campers can enjoy an evening of line or square dancing.

Facilities:

The park has 2 miles of beach on the Long Island sound for fishing and swimming. Each campsite has a picnic table, and dumping stations are nearby. There are 10 cottages, each with a fire ring, screened-in patio, and are available for rent through mid-November. The campground recycles newspaper and cardboard. Other amenities include food concessions, a nature trail, twelve miles of marked hiking trails, a picnic area, basketball courts, ball fields, a playground, and showers. Firewood is for sale at the park; bring your own barbecue or metal fire container.

Directions

The park is 73 miles from Manhattan. Take Long Island Expressway to Exit 68. Go north on Route 46, to Route 25A East. Turn left onto Sound Avenue, then left at the traffic light onto Hulse Landing Road. The park entrance is on the right.

Nice camping ground for beginners.

There are public bathrooms with shower stalls (although not very clean).

Nice picnic area with playground, beach volleyball court, pebble beach, convenience store (drive out to king kullen, 10 min drive for much better prices)

Can get crowded on weekends.

this was an AWESOME place to spend time. When I drove here for the first time I didn't realize that you have walk quite a bit from the parking lot to get to the coastline. But it's nice, the parking lot is surrounded by woods and the path down to the beach is a little rough but also a nice secluded path/ road. My mind was blown when i finally reach the water and saw the cliffs and terrain! It is such a beautiful spot and it feels so secluded

This campground was completely different than other ones in my existing experience. The majority of campsites are located on large squares, but due to the lack of surrounding trees and bushes, it looks mostly like a picnic park. Some neighbours had a chance to go across our campsite to restrooms and be sure that the shortest way to do that was right away here.

The park is very clean and placed in a beautiful place, we like a beach as well.
