About Campground

Drive into your campsite immediately you will hear the sounds of a babbling creek, by giant rhododendrons under magnificent hemlocks and oaks--a truly natural and relaxing experience.

Campers can enjoy a short hike to our private waterfall with a swimming hole or lay in a hammock next to the creek. This site is surrounded by over 400 privately owned acres of natural forests with several miles of marked trails. The campsite is adjoined by Lehigh Gorge State Park and PA State Game Lands. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended for hiking. Just minutes away there are outdoor adventures galore: white water rafting, kayaking, biking trips on a rails to trails biking path, Skirmish Paint Ball, hiking in Glen Onoko Falls and Hickory Run State Parks, and the beautiful mountaintop entertainment venue Penn's Peak, and so much more. Jim Thorpe, the historic and quaint town, is just 15 minutes from the campsite, with its many fine eateries, shops, the Lehigh Gorge Rail Road, and the Asa Packer mansion. For additional photos check out #campdietrich on Instagram. Campsite maps are best viewed on desktop browsers.

Your Signature campsite sleeps up to 8 people with 4 campers included in the base rate. The Queen bunk in the main tent can accommodate up to 4 campers and an on-site pop-up tent can be put up to house four additional campers. The campsite also comes with a picnic table, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs. The dining area is under a canopy. Additionally, our property has a "Checkpoint Shed" where campers at any of our campsites can borrow gear. Bedding, extra firewood, and a power station are available for a fee as extras (see below).

Bear Creek Hideaway in the Poconos

The Space:

Secluded campsite along Bear Creek in the Poconos.

Guest Access:

This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!

Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed with a memory foam mattress. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that___s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.

Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

What you should bring:

-S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat

-A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling

-Bedding and pillows

Firewood

Tentrr Extras:

These are other amenities, services, or activities that may be provided by your CampKeeper for an additional fee.

Extra firewood - $10

Firewood is included, however, if extra is desired.

Bedding for 1 Queen Bed - $25

Bedding includes sheets, pillows, blankets and comforter for one queen bed.

Bedding For Two Queen Beds - $45

bedding as above for both queen beds

Interaction with Guests:

Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location.

If a Tentrr Host submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the host's property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Reservation Modifications/Cancellations: Please note the terms of the cancelation policy as they are outlined in your confirmation email. Your Tentrr Host is unable to change or cancel your reservation on your behalf, and they are unable to waive any cancellation fees (if applicable). If you have any questions regarding modifications to your booking, please reach out to Tentrr Customer Support.

Other Things to Note:

Pick up all trash and secure at Check In Shed. Keep food out of tent. No fires except at camp site. No fireworks. Fishing in Bear Creek is "catch and release" only.

My five star review is based on attending Family Camp, group rental, and now family rental. We have not yet sent our kids for camp individually, but I would not hesitate to send them in the future if able to schedule and finance it.

This is a large property with a lot to explore on its 3,000 acres, but it has a smaller feeling because of the convenient arrangement of the buildings and cabin sites.

Our family of 5 has enjoyed 3 family camp sessions. My troop enjoyed a stay where we used the facilities to earn a Girl Scout badge in cooking and meal preparation as well as hike and play games in the fields. Our latest stay was as a family renting a cabin for 4 days with use of the program center in the unit for cooking and rainy day activities.

Our daughters' favorite things are the lake, the sandbox and garden, the nature center, and playing carpet ball. My favorite activity is to hike the many trails when I'm not relaxing in my cabin reading a book. The lake is small but there lots of family fun to be had like cooling off floating, taking a kayak or SUP out for a spin, or playing in the sand.

Check the website for the many amenities offered for camp weeks as well as group rentals.

Side Note: I did not enjoy the women's retreat during which a family emergency at home made it easy for me to leave early without regret. In retrospect I mostly blame myself for not collecting a group of friends to go with me. Now I know it's quite an established tradition and is difficult for single people attending to feel welcome even if you are friendly and outgoing. Glad I had a book to read.

My girls have loved this camp for the last four years. We also attended as a family for family camp two years and it was awesome! Lake, woods, rope course, great facilities.

Camp has gone woke and is not teaching sound Biblical doctrine. Any review older than 2 years, no longer is accurate. They changed God's pronouns to "They/Them."

My siblings and I were campers there, they were on staff there, my nieces and nephews and my kid all went there. We've been involved with the camp for 40+ years. I raised my concerns, as we were asked to do, and after a week, I still haven't received a response. I will update this, if I do get a response.

New camp direction is unacceptable. My daughter no longer wants to be Lutheran. Luckily, she was prepared for what she was being told and knew it was incorrect. After 40 years, my family will need to find a new summer camp. Very sad and disappointed.

Update:

It's been two weeks since I sent my email expressing my concerns. This is what they asked us to do. Apparently, they didn't mean they wanted to hear real concerns. No response or even acknowledgement.
