About Campground

Slumber Valley Campground is located along the Meshoppen Creek and nestled in the heart of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s scenic Endless Mountains. Developed in 1963 for family outdoor recreation, Slumber Valley offers all family members access to the pure pleasure of natural serenity in rustic surroundings.

A well-stocked trout stream, the Meshoppen Creek rushes a winding path through the campground before reaching the splendor of a 20-foot waterfall cascading over rocks worn smooth with the ages. High above the falls, a scenic overlook allows visitors a breathtaking view of the creek and the fern-covered rugged cliffs cut from glaciers millions of years ago. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognized the beauty of this creek by including it in its annual Scenic River poster series.

Early morning walks reveal the variety of bird songs and wild flowers filling the meadows and fields throughout the campground. During the day, you can cast a fishing line; hike a nature trail; swim in an outdoor pool; or simply relax by your tent or camper. And after dark, enjoy the untainted beauty of country star-lit skies. For those who appreciate the inspiration of nature, Slumber Valley should be top on your list of camping destinations.

Cool vibes. Great for kids. Night watchmen (I didn’t get his name) gave me a great recommendation for where to get a sandwich and was really helpful in helping me find a site. I made a reservation but got their after the office closed and he was really helpful.

Also who ever I talked to in the office (when I made my reservation and after I checked out) was really great. Didn’t catch any names.

Bathroom was super clean, and other people (at least in the tent site area where I was) were friendly and warm. 10/10

Absolutely love camping at Slumber Valley Campground. I camped here as a kid and loved it then and I love it now. Beautiful views of nature, taking in the aurora of the gentle Meshoppen Creek as it flows through the campground. Spending time camping at Slumber Valley is like going to heaven. It is a peaceful place to be. The campground staff and the Jennings family treat you like you are one of their own.

Sites are a good size, have all the amenities that you need for a good get away!

This is the place. We will keep continuing to come back because of Katie. I’m so glad we found a place where the people care. Book slumber valley when u can. It’s worth it.

Saw this on a YouTube video made by some motorcycle campers. It looked scenic, they liked the site, and the location suited my motorcycle trip. Unfortunately I didn't check the rates. $38 seems like a lot for a basic tent site (no electric) + $20 key deposit to get through gate after 7PM. Cash only was somewhat inconvenient. I definitely was NOT a happy camper when my key DID NOT OPEN THE GATE when I returned at 7:50 PM. Because I had left my side bags at the site, I was narrow enough to squeeze between the end of the gate and the big rock.

The next downside I experienced here was the truck noise. The campground is close enough to US6 that truck noise is pretty annoying.

Because rain was predicted to start at nine, I got packed and was leaving then as the rain in fact started right on schedule. Unfortunately, the office was closed, so I couldn't get my $20 key deposit back unless I stood in the rain and waited for an hour. Several days later as I was heading home, I took a detour to get my $20.

I won't come here again and I won't recommend it to any friends, but it is worth noting the the bathrooms were clean and the whole campground seemed pretty tidy and generally well run.
