We stopped here during a day hike. Very basic but its a decent spot to rest if you are a through hiker.

Would be a great place to crash for a night. We were just hiking the loop.snagged a few photos.

Stayed here as a NOBO LASHER in mid-May. Decent shelter, though quite old. Trail passes immediately in front of shelter. Good tent sites were not apparent, so I slept inside. No picnic table. Finding a good bear hang may be difficult. A large firepit. A very good spring is directly on trail, perhaps 150 feet to the north. There was a black snake living underneath the flooring. Gave me no problem.

We were so glad to see GW after a 17 mil segment hike southbound. The spring here is great. The shelter doesn’t look great but it’s actually perfect, clean, structurally fine and large. The only thing that through us off since we came in at night is the camp site is actually up the trail ( south) a ways so we just crashed at the shelter. Lots of locals at the campsite the night we were there.
