Take Rte 29 N in Tunkhannock, go 1.5 miles and turn left on Stone Mt. Rd. Go 3 miles and the entrance is on the right.
We have been coming there for a long time. My husband used to come to the campground as a kid with his dad and go fishing. I was pregnant with our first son he is now 20 years old we went camping way in the back . Rewind to 2021 we are still here... love virgina
I love this place but I wish that the camper in the good spot was not $80 ..if that was $60 we would go here more often. Some of the staff are friendlier than others. They flip about a big dog who is extremely well trained being off leash but they have many small dogs off leash including their own. Even when we took our lab for a swim in the pond they expected us to keep him on a leash. Maybe they didn't trust him around their small unleashed dog but he is the friendliest dog ever. I think its rude to make rules for others but not follow that rule right in front of everyone. If a dog is off leash and not causing any problems at all I don't know why they feel the need to make a stink. I also got the feeling that they didn't like us especially the daughter. My son was stung by a wasp as there was a wasps nest at the camper we rented..he has allergic reactions to stings. We said we cannot stay where they just removed a wasp nest and they gave us other camper for same price but the daughter let it be known that she thought that we made a deal over nothing. She showed us her stings and said see I got stung too and it's no big deal. People with allergies to stings can go into anaphylactic shock and that is definitely a big deal! We loved the place but I couldn't help but feel a vibe that they disliked us . I didn't feel welcome. They had a barbecue and food was supposed to be ready by 1 PM and wasn't ready until around 7 PM but it was good so we dealt with it but the people doing the cooking were definitely inexperienced..still not the owners fault. I like the owner and the campground..I just wish that she liked us. We usually stay at a cabin in highland campground but since the owner died the worker Tony is the laziest person I ever met and he has destroyed the place..the pool has so many bugs you can't move without being covered in bugs ..if you ask him when the pool opens he will say whenever I get to it . He is good for nothing and I don't know why they keep him there when they can find a hard worker who would love the perks of the job. But that is a different campground..not this one. The owner is extremely hard working at this one. No one is lazy here and they keep it nice
Nice campground with plenty to do and not far from town. We have a long rv and tow a large truck. They had the space for us. Love the burros and goats. Would recommend this campground
We are currently in our second year camping at Stony Mountain and we couldn't be happier! This campground boasts beautiful views, peace and quiet, and relaxation. The lake is beautiful to enjoy great fishing, boating or kayaking. The separate swimming pond is clean and enjoyable to swim in. The owners and her family are wonderful hard-working people who will accommodate you to make your stay pleasant. We absolutely love it here and are looking forward to many more seasons to come!!
The owner is a hard worker and very nice and she bends over backwards to try to correct any issues for you. Some of the sites are very close together so I would look first if you want an isolated spot. Very clean place. Pond to swim and lake to fish. You do have to bring your own fire ring cover to cook which surprised me and you have to buy wood there. Great place and hope to go back soon. The air was broken in the camper we rented and the owner tried her hardest with a portable air and a fan but the bedroom was too hot to use on the last night. I sent a message and hope we might get a complimentary tent site sometime for paying full price but not having what everyone else who paid that gets but regardless I would return I think because she really did try and I really do like the place which is why I was asking for a stay instead of any money refunded. It is a beautiful fun place and very dog friendly. It was so sad to leave and hope to go back soon!
