I have been coming here every year with family and friends and it only gets better and better from the amazing healthy and delicious meal options, beverages and service to comfy (especially beds) and extremely clean cabins on the River. The owners are so very welcoming and just good people! It’s a hidden gem on 299 and my favorite summer spot for 100% relaxation. The River front space for guests makes it as secluded as possible. Highly recommend six rivers rafting as well. :)

Such a magical place to spend time. It is a perfect location. Don and Julia are fantastic hosts and have really poured their heart and soul into making their place so beautiful and welcoming. Our staybwelas perfect! And.. the cafe is an exceptional place to dine and stare at the river and just "be". Looking forward to coming back again. And again. And again.🌞🌻

I don’t see how anyone could give less than a 5 star review. By far this is the nicest place on the trinity river. The owners Don and Julia do a beautiful job, it’s a top notch establishment.

I’m a local fishing guide and would highly recommend you to experience the strawhouse resort.

Excellent cafe with great cappuccino, latte, smoothie, range of good quality sandwiches, salads, and more. Tasty pastries, great views of river with seating areas. Store with art, books, variety of beverages, including beer and wine. Mist system is wonderful on hot days. Lovely resort. Excellent place to stay overnight at the cottages. Wonderful and worth a visit. Excellent wood fire pizzas, great flavor and fresh basil!

I'm strictly posting about the coffee shop/cafe. They have no inside seating, only seating on the patio. There is a view of the river from the patio, but it isn't pleasant to sit outside when it's 30 degrees outside. I just had a regular coffee, cream and sugar. The cream looked like it was curled, and they did not offer plain white granulated sugar. (Raw sugar and fake, cancer causing sweeteners only) There are many places you can walk around and get a better view, but ONLY if you're a guest at the resort. And leave your dog in the car, even though the seating is outside. They did have an area the size of a picnic table available for patrons with animals. Their indoor restroom is, and apparently has been for some time, out of order, but they offer outdoor toilets that have doors like you would find on a bathroom stall. Felt very exposed tbh.

The coffee wasn't very good and it was pretty pricey. Best part about it was the drive home. I wouldn't waste my time.
