A really great place to get some sunstones! We opted to screen through a large pile we purchased and came away with about 6lbs of stones and a few really beautiful quality ones! It’s a long drive and there aren’t a lot of amenities but I will absolutely becoming back. Be prepared with plenty of water and to face some intense sun and heat.

The free pit at spectrum is worth digging. I would strongly suggest doing the $175 pile and then spending the rest of the day digging the free pit. The picture of the stones is from the free pit- one man digging for about an hour and the $175 pile one man sifting for about four hours. Also the 175 pile yields more stones than what's in the picture and it took about 4 hours for 1 man 3 women to sift it. NEED BETTER MAP/SIGNAGE TO GET THERE!!

So we were blessed by the caretakers of this mine. Our rig made it there and broke down as we pulled up. Nearest city with parts was 3 hours away. They drove one of us all the way there and back, installed the part and got us back on the road. Meanwhile the two other of us had a blast mining the pit and found some real beauties. It's work and you have to put in the effort but they are there. We named the trip "Restoring faith in humanity trip", because of the amazing people we met. We scored some beautiful finds as well. Well worth the drive, time, and money.

Such a fun adventure for our family! Wonderful staff that made the experience so fun. We enjoyed sifting piles, doing conveyer belt runs, digging in the pit and the free pit dig. The remote location is very relaxing. Little to no cell reception, a great chance to unplug and enjoy nature. We called in advance and booked a cabin, super clean one room. Flushing toilets and well water available, they were great to have in such a remote location. Walking the open grounds was a treat to pick up sunstones while exploring. Tools were provided making it easy to mine for the inexperienced. Would highly recommend! Ask the staff any questions, they have so much great knowledge and we learned so much. We will be returning again next season.
