I stayed in one of the cabins last night and it was great! Relaxing on the deck and listening to the sandhill cranes and coyotes in the distance was awesome. Early this morning a group of deer came wandering through the campground. Easy check in and the owners are great people. Stay here - you won't regret it!
Completely overrun with mosquitoes. We paid for 3 nights and left at 7 am after our first night to attempt to avoid the mosquitoes (and came away with many bites). Do NOT stay in a tent here! Even with bug spray, it was awful for both humans and dogs to endure. The location near Steens Mountain is great, but they are completely taking advantage of everyone who stays in a tent here and even have a refund policy that includes not refunding due to the “discomforts of nature.” I’m an experienced camper and didn’t leave due to typical discomforts. This was absolutely the worst place I’ve ever camped. Never again!
Location is great. Would have been nice to have a fair warning about the mosquito infestation that we experienced. Made it impossible to be outdoors. We bought their bug spray which made it a little bit more tolerable.
The other thing that strikes me odd is the daily charge for towels and linens if you are in a cabin that allows pets. A one time charge would make more sense!
Would not choose to stay here again but I also understand that was our experience. I know others have had a great time here.
We had the pleasure to stay here in late August 2023. We tent camped. Great facility nice grass area for tents and the Steens loop road is across the road. Very nice bathroom and showers. Don't miss the cowboy coffee in Frenchglen. It's really good!
They had a power outage one night from 12-6am and only put a note on the office door. We were not contacted personally so we were shocked when our CPAPS shut off! There should have been a note on each RV. In addition the trees are not trimmed tall enough for RVs to fully clear.
