Excellent base for exploration of the Hart Mountain area. Spacious spots for an RV of any size. No shade or trees however at the campsites but there is shade in the group shelter. Grand views up towards the entire Hart Mountain range, and to distant peaks to the southwest. I have visited in Spring and Fall for the bird migrations and hiking up on the mountain and enjoyed my stay very much. Sunsets are amazing. Complete silence. Coming down from the north, the shortcut from US 395 over the county dirt road to the campground is in good enough condition for my travel trailer with no issues at all, going about 30-35 mph. Some washboards are on that road but not bad. It saves a lot a distance compared to driving down to Lakeview and over OR 140 to the cutoff road to Plush. Buggy in the late spring and summer due to all the water in the valley, no bugs at all early and late in the year.

Great little dry campground. Huge sites, big enough for any size rig. There is potable water for filling tanks. Great stargazing area. Lot of hiking trails and roads for exploring the national Antelope Refuge. No dump site, 14-day limit. Camp host Memorial Day thru Labor Day.
