Paved road to the camp. Originally conceived as a drop off point for RVs there is a large paved parking lot with lots of room for RVs. Visitors can then continue on Road 99 to view the east side of Mount St. Helens. In the winter this area becomes a snow park. It has a small shelter and toilet.
From Randle, WA head south on WA-131 S for 2.7 miles. Then continue onto Forest Road 25 for another 17 miles. From Forest Road 25, turn east on Road 99, a short distance to turn off, into parking area.
Apparently free in summer, very clean place and wonderful clearing with pit toilets
June 1, 2021 winter is over, right? Sorry! Not here. We were trying to use N99 to get to the east side of Mt St Rainier, but the road was closed due to snow. The weather was so late spring-like, it was hard to believe that the barricade was up. As the picture shows, an earlier traveler did not heed the warning and paid the price. For us it was enough to head back to the picnic area, get recharged and continue on our way to Boise Idaho.
Amazing winter sno park. Say hi to Brian the snow plow operator he's really friendly
Gifford pinchot snow park off windy ridge, bathrooms, day use only shelter at the snow park with a wood burning stove. Has bathrooms. A good place to drop any low riding trailers before you hit the windy ridge road... it's not the best of roads.
Beautiful scenic route. We had a nice drive through winding mountainous roads. We had a nice picnic at a camping site. The kids had a great time playing in the snow. We saw deer and lots of ducks on the way.
