A higher elevation, wooded campground especially popular during huckleberry season as this site is located in a part of the forest with many huckleberry bushes. Squaw Butte Trail #21 leads out of the campground.
In Trout Lake, WA, at intersection of State Rt. 141 and Mt. Adams Rec Hwy, take Rt. 141 north 7.9 miles to "Y" intersection. Bear left onto Forest Rt. 8851 (paved, single lane) and go 3.2 miles to another "Y" intersection. Bear left onto Forest Rt. 24 and go 1 mile to campground sign. Turn right onto gravel road and go 0.2 miles to campground on right.
OK, full disclosure: I drove through and didn't stay. This place looks very neglected...road conditions are terrible, sites need raking, signs busted or missing. I am surprised they still collect money to stay here. My 25' class c rv barely made it around the loop due to very deep ruts. So expect it to be very quiet at least, but dispersed camping won't charge the $10.
We were looking for carnelian agates found one tiny one beach was clean. The stretch of sand that leads out to Damond point has washed away. They say it will come back
