The Shanty River Center has provided camping near the Guadalupe River for over 15 years.
Camping in the Hill Country and tubing on the Guadalupe River. What more could you ask for?
Shanty 2 is the location of our campgrounds and is located near the beginning of the Horseshoe bridge. This location has tube, raft, and kayak rentals, public restrooms, showers, and plenty of parking.
Our main location Shanty Tubes also has a Tiki Bar, as well as the Shanty Salsa Kitchen to add to your camping experience. So after a fabulous day of tubing, come to the Shanty Tiki Bar for some good times, music and some good food.
Great place to rent a tube or bring your own. $20 pp, the tube takes you around the horseshoe. They have two sites, 1 and 2. Sign up, pay and they give you a parking pass. After you place it in your car they will give you wristbands and a tube (if you need one). You get on the river right there and get off the river on the second bridge. Walk up the hill and get on a bus back. You can do it all day for the same entry, just get another tube and start again. Place gets busy on Saturday/sun just be patient. Nice folks run this, bus drivers are nice. It gets a bit crazy mid river… FYI for those with sensitive young children, alcohol is allowed and some wild and crazy parties may abound, but not bad. People enjoying life!!!!
Already feels overcharged at $20 per person, whether you rent their equipment or not. Additionally very poor communication skills on their part. My family (amongst 2 others) were told the place closes at 7- 8 the latest. We came at 5-6 and the entire place was locked up. When we called to ask what the mix up was, the woman on the phone told us that she told us the facility closes at 6. A terrible experience all around. Don’t waste your money here.
I had an amazing weekend! It was so fun !! People were nice all around !! And I would recommend this place it’s awesome!! My first time tubing and I had a blast !!
We go to the Guadalupe river every year with a group of 10+ and we tent camp at Shanty 2. It's a great spot...a short walk to the river float entry. The campsites are primitive...no electricity or water. There is a picnic table and plenty of shade trees with a bathouse and portable bathrooms near. Shanty has always been great to us! They give military, first responder and teacher discounts on your tubes ❤ and the drivers have always gone above and beyond...delivering us to our campsites instead of the tube shack. The only drawbacks are you may have to call to make reservations instead of depending on the online booking to be effective. But they have been super courteous on the phone.. always.
