About Campground

River Forest Haven is a unique space that seeks to bring you closer to nature. We do not artificially light the camp and we strive to leave as much of the property in its natural state as we can. This provides a unique experience that is not your typical campground as we keep all of our campsites tucked under lush natural canopies. Car and tent camping works great! For most sites, you can easily drive up to your spot. Arrive, take a look around and settle into your site. We are always happy to deliver any of our items from our general store- just message us or give us a call and we will come by.

With nearly half a mile of Colorado riverfront to swim, fish, toob, paddle-board, kayak, and canoe\*, along with 30 acres to hike and explore, River Forest Haven is also a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Austin.

River Forest Haven is the perfect place to unplug and get back to nature. Finally, a place where being disconnected is actually a good thing.

My family took our 21ft camper and had a wonderful time. The owners promptly answered all my questions prior to making reservation, and were very accommodating through our stay. The Colorado is probably one of the only rivers left that is still flowing and it was beautiful. Will definitely stay here again!

We had such a peaceful night at River Forest Haven. We rented a site that had a dock. We also rented a kayak. It was so nice being right on the river! Each site has a fire pit as well as picnic table. This is a dog friendly location, so we were able to bring our two fur babies, who also enjoyed the trip.

When we arrived , we were met immediately and given directions to our site. We were also given the opportunity to take a bigger site than the one that we had booked, which we opted for.

The camping is primitive, which the website clearly states. The restroom is a port a potty and there are two outdoor showers with both hot and cold running water. River Forest Haven was exactly what we were looking for, and did not disappoint. We will definitely be back.

Such a lovely hidden gem! The campsites are beautiful and private, perfect river access & all day kayak/canoe rentals are available. The owner/staff are so kind, specifically Brandon! - they deliver firewood and make sure you have whatever you need. They even do trash pickup as well. We will definitely be coming back to River Forest Haven, and I highly recommend camping here. Especially at the private pier access sites!

For our sons birthday he really wanted to go camping, so we decided to brave the heat and I am so glad I found this place. All of the sites were shaded by trees and the river is a short walk from the river sites. The showers were a great way to cool off at night before bed. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We will definitely be coming back for family trips to River Forest Haven.

Stayed in River Plus site 4. Was very spacious and was nestled between the boat ramp and pebble beach but the trees and nature gave you plenty of privacy. I have attached pictures of boat ramp, beach, our 12 person tent, and the path to our private dock. Trees provided plenty of shade and didn't need to set up our canopy. Had a great time and will be back. 5 stars all the way!!
