About Campground

The Stonewall Motor Lodge is a property that was built in 1964 to accommodate the press core that accompanied Lyndon B. Johnson while visiting the Texas White House. The property was renovated and brought back to life in 2019 after years of neglect. During the renovation 4-20'W x 40'L back-in RV sites were added. All of our sites have 50-amp power, water, and sewer connections.

Directions

We have an RV entrance on St. Francis Street 100 yards west of the main entrance. The RV sites will be on your left hand side when you enter through the RV entrance.

We stayed at one of their RV sites. While the sites are a little close together, the area behind us was large and shaded by big trees! They have 2 cool gathering spots with the outdoor area having heaters and blankets to keep warm! Tim provided excellent customer service! Thanks!

This Motor Lodge is a gem! The staff were friendly and accommodating, made suggestions for local eateries and told about all the amenities on the site. Walking around the property, every corner has something cool; the Barn has games and a t.v. in a very cool and cozy atmosphere, the deck above the carport is a gorgeous hill country view with comfy seating and string lights. The lobby is open with brochures for local brochures, extra coffee, and merchandise! We stayed in The Press Room which has such a cool history for the LBJ White House Press Corps. Close to both Fredericksburg, and Johnson City, there were lots of cool choices to built our itinerary from and the staff has app information to help with local choices.

My only criticism is that we went on a very cold night, and it took a long time to warm the room up with the wall unit.

We had a great time, and will definitely be back!

Stonewall Motor Inn is a little gem in the Texas wine country. Highly recommend!

Just needed a place to stay while traveling through, and was pleasantly surprised. Everything is fresh and new and very clean. Such a great retro design and keeping with the period of the original motel. We appreciated the well stocked coffee bar in the morning.

Of note, after traveling the world with lots of hotels in all price ranges to compare, this was the cleanest hotel room I’ve ever experienced.

The rooftop patio is a nice place to sit and relax in the evening.

Stonewall is a little bit out of the way, so prepare to either drive for food, or bring yourself a nice charcuterie and bottle of wine for the evening. There is one Italian market nearby that serves fantastic, pizza, gelato, sandwiches, etc. But we found that they were not open on a Tuesday night.

We stayed in one of the RV sites and it was perfect for us. The location is excellent, Tim provided awesome customer service and the grounds are well-maintained and inviting. Even though the Stonewall Motor Lodge started as a motel, the addition of the RV sites and the cabins make it a wonderful choice for travelers with various lodging needs. As a bonus, there are numerous outdoor gathering areas that accommodate people wanting to chill. We will be back with a group of friends next time we visit the Texas Wine Trail.

We enjoyed our stay in cabin #17. I was alittle hesitant at first until we walked in. From the 1st step inside, we felt comfortable in the surrounding. The beds and pillows were top notch and very comfortable, even having a fan on the center table between beds was perfect. The shower was wonderful as well. I would truly recommend this to anyone that wants a good nights rest. The hospitality was top notch and I really enjoyed going back to the main office for a fresh cup of coffee. Also waking up one morning and seeing the Axis deer just sealed the deal. Go ahead and book that room, you won’t be disappointed.
