We are a new campground nestled back in the woods one mile from Roaring River State Park. Accommodations include tent camping, RV sites and cabins. We also have hiking trails throughout town the property.
We love this campground! We have camped here multiple visits. They just added a play area for kids, the camp spots aren't to close to together, and the property is beautiful. Two of our favorite features is the trail and the location of the campground; The road is not visible and you can't here the traffic constantly. its so peaceful to sit outside see and hear nature.
The tiny cabins are charming — the owners have thought of everything! — and the forested surroundings are peaceful. The owners were very responsive to all our questions by email before and after our visit. We look forward to returning!
We wanted a quiet place to stay near Roaring River that wasn't crowded, so we stayed at the Country Charm cabin. It is bigger and better than it looks on the website. Very nicely done, and quite cozy. The view from the deck is amazing and is a great place for morning coffee. The owners were very friendly and attentive. I doubt you would be able to find nicer campground hosts anywhere. A recently built boardwalk up to the cabin was a great addition since the ground is so hilly. Compared to the campground at Roaring River, this place is a balm for the soul. Highly recommended!
We just finished up a two month stay, and we enjoyed every day of it! The property is beautiful, and the owners, Tammy and Dan are the sweetest couple who put a lot of love and attention into the park. There is ample, well-groomed grass around the property and between sites, which is important for us as doggie parents. Starlink and the park wifi performed well, and we had no issues working and streaming. There are hiking trails on the property, and they are a two minute drive to the state park for fishing and hiking. With the location of the park being located on the side of a mountain, leveling our large rig was a challenge, so just account for extra time to get setup.
We had family come in to visit during our time there, and they stayed in the Country Charm cabin, which was beautifully decorated with amazing views from the deck. There is everything you could possibly need to cook meals, and my parents couldn't stop talking about how comfortable the mattress was in the bedroom.
If you’re looking for a peaceful setting and the best hosts you could ask for, Shadow Bluffs Retreat is your place! We can’t wait to come back!
Great location with a 2 mile trail head at the camp ground. 3 minute drive to Roaring River. Only12 minutes to the nearest grocery store. Walk in tent sites are difficult to get to but the owners of the camp ground will take you in with their side by side! Bathroom is very clean. Play ground was wonderful for small children. They even have a miniature zip line. The sites are close together but all campers were friendly and respectful. The sites are pull through which makes it easy. The owners were responsive and hospitable. My son loved his morning meetings with Dan, the owner 😂. Dogs are welcome.
