About Campground

We like it small:

With just 36 sites, we may be the smallest campground in the area, and that allows us to focus on you! Just let us know your needs, and we will do our best to make sure you have a great time while you are here!

We like the outdoors:

We believe that camping is about connecting with nature and enjoying the outdoors. Bring the gear of your choice and take off on a biking expedition through rural countryside, canoe or kayak miles of beautiful river, or grab the waders and poles and seek out magic holes for gills and perch for a weekend fish fry. Bring the boat and head out after trophy muskies in the annually-stocked Thornapple Lake, or just cruise, float, or even ski if that's your pleasure. Kids love the sandy beach at Historic Charlton Park, and walkers enjoy the wooded trails throughout its 320-acre recreation area. If you want to slow down for the weekend, bring your favorite book and read by the river, or enjoy an evening fire with friends and family

We're really not too far away:

Barry County is just an hour - or less - away from Lansing, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids. A gem of rural recreation with no freeways and a simple, country style, you won't believe you haven't found your way here before. Located between Hastings and Nashville, Rivergate Family Campground offers a convenient place to stay while enjoying sports, festivals, events or family reunions in the area.

This place sucks 😔 just a field next to a dirty river , would not recommend and some of the other campers keep yelling at people driving down the road. No Thanks!!

To start she gave our spot that I booked a month ago to someone else. Then when we pulled in with our 38’ RV and the spot she changed us to was too small she asked if we told her it was 38’…yes I always tell people what we require and they usually ask. Grey water dumping only, and it’s tiny little area with old trailers all crammed together. Definitely not what we wanted, so we didn’t even stay.

Nice little place to get away. It was a bit crowded tho. Fishing is plentiful and you can kayak right there. There is a beach near by to . You can't go wrong

Absolutely love it here. Quiet, relaxing, fun. Surrounded by great people, good fishing and all across from Charlton Park!

Campground is a clean, spacious, pleasant place to stay for any amount of time. Boat dock access from campground, just unload and go! Plenty of docks for guests to use while visiting.

Great access to the lake; river one direction from campground, Thornapple lake is the other direction. Lots of pull-off’s to dock and swim or picnic. Great place to fish! Tubing is an easy, fun activity, and located a short drive away.

Owner is amazing! Plenty of nice people at the campground that are seasonal, and will help or welcome anyone with anything!! Do yourself a favor and stay here!
