Now open since Sept. 1 2023.
Newly renovated
Red Bluff Campground is named for towering red bluffs along Huzzah Creek, carved by the elements over the past 10,000 years. The area used to be home to timber mills, but now provides a serene spot for camping and enjoying nature.
Most sites are within 100 yards of Huzzah Creek, where tubing and swimming are enjoyed by visitors. The water can be swift-moving at times and rocks and drop-offs are not marked. Fishing is also popular in the area and anglers can expect to find bass, perch and catfish.
The Red Bluff Trail lies within the boundaries of the campground. It is a 1.2-mile loop that winds through a pine plantation and big oak timber, into an adjoining hollow before returning to the campground. The short trail provides an opportunity for visitors to enjoy a variety of ecological communities, while reaping the benefits of a half-hour of hiking.
The campground offers several large sites available for tent and RV camping. Individual picnic sites are available as well, some of which have shelters. An accessible group picnic shelter can also be reserved and can accommodate up to 75 people. Additional sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each site is equipped with a table and campfire ring with grill. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. The roads within the campground are paved.
Large, red bluffs on the opposite side of Huzzah Creek, gravel bars along the creek, a mixture of pools and riffles and natural vegetation provide a backdrop for a very relaxing camping experience at the campground. Red Bluff is located in the Potosi-Fredericktown Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest.
This campground is located in southeastern Missouri, approximately one mile from the town of Davisville.
From Viburnum, MO, take State Rt. 49 north 7.2 miles to County Rt. 724 (Sellers Rd.). Turn right onto Sellers Rd. and go 0.4 miles to "Y" intersection. Bear left onto County Rt. 721 and go 3.1 miles to State Rt. V. Turn left onto Rt. V and go about 0.3 miles (through Davisville) to campground.
We reserved our site through recreation.gov but upon arrival we did not see any sign that we reserved our site. So, we made up our own sign and hung on campground number post. Tried to find campground host but could not find him/her. Very poor service. No trash collection, sites are not that great, vault toilet only. However there is a creek beside the campground where we took our shower. Sign at campground almost not present, lots of bugs, no lights. Definitely not coming back to this campground, if we do we will not reserve our site in advance.
Great campground, and very dark if you want to get away from the city lights.
The bathrooms were very clean, and the firepits were well maintained
Long family history/tradition at this beautiful spot. The swimming area is clean and gorgeous...and rarely over populated. Recently I've been heading down to swim since my pool is closed and it has been amazing seeing and talking with other families that have also been coming here for decades. Several generations. This is a gorgeous and peaceful place. Just an hour and forty minutes from St. Louis. Worth the drive even for a brief day trip, and nice to camp at too.
Best place for camping! Beautiful campsites. Some spaced out for a little bit of privacy and some gathered together if you prefer a busier space.
Yard hydrants to wash off at, no showers available. A handful of electric sites. Most campsites are super close to the water and have a beautiful view. Huzzah creek this far down is mostly shallow (knee deep) with one or two deeper spots to swim at.
Definitely reserve a space before you go if you go on the weekends.
One of the most beautiful campgrounds in Missouri. Completely renovated with new sites and bathroom facilities.
