From jct Hwy 47 & Hwy 21: Go 6 mi N on Hwy 21.
Beautiful! Fall is the perfect time to visit. The leaves changing color os simply stunning. Nickel and I hiked the Opposum Track trail. It was around 2.5 miles long and it was of moderate difficulty, which was a nice challenge. We went slow and took our time and didn't have any trouble. Slow and steady wins the race. It took us a little over 1 hour 45 mins, but we stopped and took the view in at several places.
Beware, it goes over several steep inclines and some decents that are rocky and when wet leaves cover the rocks it can be quite slippery.
Many different sites and things to see along trail. One of my favorite trails in Mo!
Great park to camp out with family and friends. Campsites & trails are well maintained. Park also has a pool (dint visit). The washrooms are accessible & clean. Small play parks for kids near the washrooms. The river is approx 2miles drive from the campsite.
Little bit of heaven in the great state of Missouri. This park is so peaceful and quiet and vast. Great place to hike and just enjoy the great outdoors and if you want a strenuous hike to really get your heart pumping I would advise the thousand boulder hike.
Though the state park contained within the 2 main highway entrances is a nice place to visit anytime of year, I'm going to speak on the boat launch which is down the highway a mile or so. It's a real decent place to go even if you are not launching a boat. It's got trails around it and bluffs up and down the river though be careful with them as they appear to be crumbly. No camping or campfires for some reason? Has a bathroom and trash cans and is well maintained. If you're looking for a place to let the pets out to use the bathroom without worrying about the masses at the main park, this is it.
