About Campground

With Lake of the Ozarks camping, enjoy the solitude of an undeveloped cove hidden along the shorelines of one of Missouri’s largest lakes. Swim, fish, boat or simply take in the view from a shady campsite or picnic area overlooking the Lake of the Ozarks. The park offers the opportunity to enjoy a variety of recreational activities on the lake or on shore.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers basic and electric campsites and three organized group camps and Pin Oak Facility. For those who need a little extra space, family campsites are available.

Stock up on camping supplies at the Camper Store, which is located near the campground entrance.

On shore, hikers, backpackers, equestrians and bicyclists can wind through open woodlands, sunny glades, small springs and streams to bluff-top views of the Lake of the Ozarks. Water enthusiasts can make use of the park’s two swimming beaches, boat rentals and paved boat ramps. Park stores sell all of the necessary supplies for a day on the water. Year-round overnight accommodations include campsites, Outpost Cabins and yurts.

Let me start by saying, there is not good cell service. I could send texts and receive calls but was unable to surf the web to search for things to do or initiate navigation from the campground to anywhere else. We booked an 8 night stay in Section 3 of the campground. From the beginning we were disappointed that the website didn't have site pics so we were really flying blind and it was hard to navigate the state park site to get a lay of the land for things nearby in the campground. Our site was in the hot hot midday sun which made for a miserable time in the 100°+ days we experienced while there. Our site had a power hook up and a good amount of flat shaded space behind it for the kids to play. All the neighboring kids would run around in the middle and it was easy to keep an eye on them. Let's talk about restrooms and bathhouses. We were situated between two. One was much smaller and had 4 bathroom/showers. Each bathroom had a shower in it. These were not super clean. I don't blame the park hosts, many of the campers were less than courteous to put it nicely. They constantly smelled like cigarettes and had ashes in the sink. But the hosts were always quick to clean up bigger issues like clogged toilets. They were also extremely hot in the extreme heat as they had no air. The bigger bathhouses were much much nicer. The park touts being the largest state park in Missouri and it is, but the issue is it is split by the lake. It took us over 30 minutes to get to the caverns. There was Public Beach #1 near us, just a short drive from our site or could be walked. I thought it was very picturesque. There were also deer everywhere and we saw two tiny fawns.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park is actually quite a large place with many entrances and many facilities. On this occasion we went hiking the hidden Springs Trail. 2.5 mi. Not particularly strenuous. There is a small scenic overlook looking out at the lake, and if you can find it there is a tiny old cemetery, which is interesting. It takes about an hour to hike at a fair pace.

It’s really amazing place to spend your vacation.

You can do lots of activities there like boating, swimming etc with your own or rental equipments.

Very beautiful place for sunset. You can take some food with you also. I saw many people came with RV and camps to spend days with their family.

There are lots of hotel nearby. You can stay there too.

For me it was quite good because we were only two.

Recommended.
