Dont recommend tent camping here. They are honestly trying to make it better. The bathrooms are nice and the park is nice but the tent sights are covered in rock/gravel and vary dusty and uneven. The swimming lake is gross and swampy. The rules aren't enforced so it was loud on friday night well past midnight.

I grew up camping at Wapusun, we went back for the first time in over 15 years, our kids LOVED all the fishing and the live entertainment was great! Our spot was as a little close to other campers but other than that The only thing I would love to see is the basketball court area fixed up but it appears they have really been fixing everything up so hopefully that is something in the works 👍

This review is solely for the primitive camping sites. We were supposed to have a family camping trip to WV but the forecast was bad, so we decided to find a campground closer to home. We are in the Akron area. Literally picked Wapusun out of a google search, pictures looked good and primitive camping looked secluded. Arrived and was incredibly surprised. The RV park looked nice enough, nothing fancy but not dumpy either. But as we drove through toward the primitive camping area, we were met with seclusion, quietness, and a HUGE, semi wooded lake side spot where we were able to spread out and be to ourselves. Caught bluegill and catfish steps from our tent. The closest occupied campsite was a solid 50 yards away. There were maybe 2 unoccupied sites between us. This was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Plenty of trees to provide shade, ground was grassy and cut down, no dust or worn down, and a semi truck rim for a fire ring, big enough to pop a grate over to cook delicious food. I do not have a single complaint about any of the campsites we seen. All were spread out along a dirt road that meanders through trees, between ponds, and along a corn field. Can barely see the rest of the park from these campsites.

I saw 2 bath houses, both were clean and stocked. Both are a quick drive or a long walk. Showered in one, clean warm water with good pressure. Hooks on the walls to keep towel and clothes dry. General store stocked with the necessities at a price that was only slightly higher than normal stores. Honestly, priced a little better than what I expected.

Attached game room was decent, foozeball, pool, yard games, and other stuff, all free. The people that worked there were nice and helpful.

We went to their Saturday night karaoke. Most every song picked was older country. Maybe 30 people or so and it appeared most were the seasonal campers. I got up the nerve to belt out some Hank Williams Jr!!!

Some area need updated, basketball court is very old, but I can see the owners are working on improving this older property. Did not swim, the beach and area surrounding looked like it was abandoned. This place isn’t perfect, there’s stuff that needs to be freshened up. But I wasn’t there for basketball or swimming so it didn’t affect our stay.

With the way it is right now, I’d pick this place to camp again and again!!! For us, we got just what we were wanting, a secluded wooded area to camp that wasnt on top other tent campers and gave us an area to ourselves to enjoy.

This camp ground is a great location in between Amish country and Mohican. Our site was 327 and the seasonal campers to the left of us were very loud blaring their music and had great disregard for other campers around. We visited over Labor Day and there was a big fight that broke out on night between other campers which was very disturbing. I can say that we have never experienced that before let alone at a camp ground. The seasonal campers ride their golf carts around in circles so you kind of feel like you are in a fish bowl and makes it very dusty. The seasonal sites are very run down. It was a very different experience than what we are use to at the state park camp grounds. We would not recommend.

We spent a month at Lake Wapusun. I have two children ages 3 and 5. We wanted somewhere that was kid friendly and that’s exactly what we found. My children loved riding their bikes everyday, playing on the playground, kayaking and playing with other children. The staff were always kind and welcoming. We are new to the RV life and when making a rookie mistake; Jenn, Daryl and Chris were fantastic at jumping into action to help!

The general store is so cute and very reasonably priced. I loved going in on the weekends for mini peach pies. They have a side room with games, books and chalk that my daughters loved to hang out in.

There were activities planned on the weekend that my children looked forward to. Lots of adult activities on the weekend too. The campground goes out of their way to be family friendly. I didn’t find it loud after hours and the seasonals were friendly.

There is a lot of construction and updates, I can’t wait to see the updates.

10/10 recommend!
