About Campground

2020 - OPEN AGAIN per website: 41 campsites near the shores of six small ponds at 9900' with 2 picnic spots above at Upper Canjilon Lakes. Open without a concessionaire (no trash collection, no water, no restrooms). Closing will be weather dependent. Visitors must pack out all trash and human waste.

Directions

12 miles northeast of Canjilon. Convenience store located at Cebolla, NM approximately 6 miles from village of Canjilon. Gasoline is available at this location. Post office is available at Canjilon.

Lots of people. Packed campgrounds with no shade. All of the birch trees here have been chopped down for firewood. There are downed trees everywhere and the sound of chainsaws is constant. But the lake has fish.

The bathrooms are not accessible during the pandemic. Nor are the bear-safe trashcans. People were camping on the road so they could technically not be in the campground. 😂

The nearby forests are glorious though. Quiet and I stumbled across an animal carcass. Watch for predators.

Kids had a balst has 3 lakes to fish and lots of new trees saw lors of cows around. Not the cleanest bathrooms but great place for camping beautiful views.
