Great place for active and retired military! Clean bathrooms, beautiful lake, nice pads. Full hook ups with free washer and dryers in the bathrooms. Nearby museum, swimming pool and just alot of intresting things to see and do on base! The all ranks club is within walking distance and one feels completely safe here!
Need max stay limits, still too many run down, tarped roofs covered in pine needles. Trailer park feel. Many people have been there over 10 years, occupying all the premium pull thrus, these are much easier for short stays. *easy fix, long term sites beyond bathrooms or raise rent for premium sites* this is not a retirement park, many spots are unoccupied and obviously being used for storage. But they limited me to 3 week stay. All spots should be the same. Beautiful lake, laundry clean with free w/d and ice. Base has limited services but museum is a must see! No camp host or support for weekend travelers. Impossible to know availability, especially with park full alot. Way too many speed bumps, shock my RV horribly especially the one on a downhill! Some pads need backfill dirt around them, hard drop offs on concrete edge are ankle killers at your doorstep.
So nice a peaceful, stayed in cabin 1 have a great view of the surrounding lake. Staff were nice and friendly. The cabin had been recently remodeled, it looks great.
We had a wonderful site and experience at the campground. Numerous types of sites. Camp is in two parts . The new camp has pull thrus but no bath or laundry facility. You can do your laundry at the old camp for free or use the free laundromats on the base. No playground but numerous roads and trails for walking or running.
Well maintained cabins right on the lake in Camp Shelby. Quite and clean. We had an issue with a missing remote for the fan on the porch and within an hour they were back with a replacement. The staff was very friendly. Just don't close the door without your key in hand, you will get locked out of your cabin.
