From Jasper, TX take US 96 N 18 mi to Brookeland, TX, then Loop 149 for 2 miles to the intersection w/Spur 165. Go west 1 mile to the park entrance.
My husband and I camped here during the week in November for our 11th anniversary. Night sky was beautiful. Temperatures were awesome. Everyone ...campers and grounds keepers all very pleasant. Campsites clean and nice. Very quiet at night. We camped in our Subaru with an air mattress made to fit an SUV or truck bed. I would love to come out again soon.
This has got to be the best RV and camp ground on Lake Sam Rayburn. Even the gate keepers are friendly. There is deputy's patrolling the area at night and day. I wish I could get this at my own neighbor Hood. There is running water and electricity, showers and super clean. The boat ramp is well paved and plenty of parking. There are covered picnic tables and pits next to your camping spots. Plenty of trees and almost the best swimming area in the country. So if you don't want to fight the Federal Park rangers like everyone at the Angelina national Forest has to. If you don't want to worry about your family be secure as you have to do in most of the parks in the the Angelina national Forest area, this is the park for you and your family. This is the stay you expect. At the prices are unbelievably low.
Beautiful setting, very peaceful. Bathrooms are cold and don't have any soap. Showers are timed push button - they stay on maybe thirty seconds - with little to no hot water.
I definitely recommend visiting here if you like the water. The lake is beautiful. Just don't expect showers!
My family and I have comecome to this park a couple of times now and we love it. It is a quite place great for relaxing. My kid thinks that the lake is the best part and says the people are quite nice.
One of my favorite campgrounds took my children and grandchildren and hopefully this year my great grandkids to enjoy the beauty of lake Sam Rayburn
