In town, off northbound jct Hwy-33 & Hwy-72 on the S side of Mio Dam impoundment of the Au Sable River.
My family & I have enjoyed camping here every summer and fall for 9 years now! The campground sits on the Mio Pond, is conveniently located close to town, yet tucked into the woods enough to provide seclusion. It offers both rustic & full power sites, outhouses to full bathroom facilities (showers available with tokens purchased on site), and accommodates tents to full bus-style campers. It also has a pavilion and common recreation area (including playground for the wee ones), beverage vending machine, and firewood can be purchased on site.
As this season draws to close, I look forward to the Halloween festivities - and returning next year!
This campground is a gem. Let's start with the camp itself. Lots are very spacious and are beautifully maintained and groomed. Bath house is clean and bright. Plenty of pit toilets throughout camp as well. There is a dump station on site with potable water. Each site has a fire ring.
With plenty of games, a playground, horseshoes, basketball court etc, there is plenty of things to do. Nature trails and the pond are my favorites too. Being so close to the dam offers the best fishing. We also spend a tremendous amount of time kayaking, tubing and floating the river. This is why we spend our summers up here.
This park is so conveniently located right in town but feels like we are in the middle of the forest. Supplies are at our doorstep! We are getting spoiled here. Currently there are no laundry facilities but the laundromat is about a mile down the road and is clean and well maintained with an attendant.
It is in the process of getting some needed updates summer of 2022 as it is under new management. Jim, the park manager, is always out working in the park. He is prompt in solving any issue we have run into. You will most often find him wearing an infectious smile. The other staff members, Sarah and Hillary are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I've received several amazing recommendations for area businesses and attractions from them.
All of these reasons are why we love staying here. We feel spoiled and Blessed to have found this gem of a camp. We look forward to returning year after year.
Quiet comfortable. Easy to get in and set up. Very friendly staff. Will come again.
I visited Oscoda County Park with friends in their RV. It just so happened it was trick or treat night. Costumes and decorations for Halloween were everywhere. The park was clean and well maintained. My friends enjoy camping here often and it’s fun to visit! Happy Halloween
