Stayed 4 nights here and lived it we did not want to leave. Our campsite was large and the kids had lots of space to run. Lots of surrounding activities. We will be back!
What a beautiful little campground. Hostess Yolanda was fantastic and very accommodating for our camper and boat. This place is by no means “fancy” but it is peaceful and in a great location. Showers left a little to be desired but that was our only criticism. We will be back.
No rooms here, of course :-), but the location is perfect for lovers of the Leelanau Peninsula and Traverse City area. Leelanau Wineries are a short drive away, so is the Riverside Canoe Livery on the Platte River in Honor, the town of Frankfort, and all of the shops, restaurants, hotels, stores, beaches, etc. of the Traverse City area. Very peaceful and serene, the sites with electricity are easy to access, the showers are clean with abundant hot water (50 cents for three minutes). Empire is quiet and quaint before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. I like nothing more than to sit around a campfire at night with friends and family, and enjoy the darkness of a northern sky with a million stars above.
This campground is amazing! My boyfriend and I camped in the rustic sites, and we had plenty of room on our site (we have an 8 person tent for reference) The lady who owns the campground is super nice! Showers, aren't expensive- maybe about $1 for a shower? If you need to break some bills for quarters they will do that for you. We absolutely loved our stay at Empire Township Campground and we'll be back😊
We had an excellent experience at this campground! We were unable to get a campsite at Sleepy Bear Dunes, but we were happy to find Empire Township Campground, which is just 10 minutes from Sleepy Bear Dunes Visitor Center. The sites were very nice and the facilities were clean. The manager was extremely accommodating, helpful and communicative. This was a great stay!
