We travel full time and have been visiting the trolls throughout the US on our journey. That said, we've been to a lot of campgrounds. Although we prefer to boondock, I would stay here in a heartbeat! Such a beautiful plot of land, right on the river (creek?). They have over 100 kayaks that are available, beautiful grounds, near cabins and really neat staff. I loved hearing the owners story of leaving Colorado to pursue to their dream of owning a campground. They're neat people and you should definitely support this really cool spot! Plus, you get to see the newest troll in the collection, Bennie the Beard Fisher!
My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying here the last couple days and were very pleased. We stayed in a new cabin that was clean, had everything we needed, and had a great view. The location of the place is right in the middle of everything in the UP which is perfect if you plan on spending more than one day here. On top of the beautiful location, Levi and the crew at Northland Outfitters are very nice and accommodating. They have a really good thing going on here, so if you're ever in the area I definitely recommend staying here!
Overall great stay. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how clean and welcoming this campground was! Cabins were super cozy and offered air/heat plus a fridge and microwave. We especially loved that we were able to bring our dogs, even if they weren’t the nicest guests and barked at people walking by..sorry it’s their first time camping and we weren’t expecting to be front and center lol. It probably would’ve been different had we had a cabin in the back away from the traffic the troll brought in. We were the first cabin right next to store which was nice when we needed more wood or just engaged in conversation with staff. Durea & Leon were super gracious and helpful and even offered suggestions on our first time in the UP to the point of even watching our dogs if needed if there was something we felt we missed out on. We found out somewhat early on, some of the hikes we weren’t able to do because bears & other wildlife and it was to protect us and them on hikes. Totally understandable. They also offer kayaking & canoeing which is super awesome to have everything all in one! If you’re staying they say the 2 1/2 mile trip is the way to go because they take you up and you float right back to the campground. You wouldn’t even need to leave or take your car anywhere, sounds like a perk to me. We will definitely be back in the future especially hearing of the future plans they have for the campground! Thank you again Northland Outfitters!
Went camping here for a night and wish we spent the whole trip here! The owners are some of the most kind and considerate people we’ve ever met. We didn’t bring any chairs with us and when they noticed, they offered to let us borrow some, and even brought us firewood! It’s a beautiful location right on the river and it’s extremely clean (especially the bathrooms). If you get the chance, definitely check this place out.
I can't say enough good things about this campground! The owners put a lot of time, heart and soul into this place and it shows. The location was perfect for us, centrally located to all the places we wanted to go. When we weren't on the go our campsite on the river was very relaxing. The bathouse is extremely clean and inviting! I loved the added touch of the outdoor dish washing sink!
We hope to be back! Would like to do a river trip as well.
