Wonderful rustic campground. Even on a busy July weekend I was able to find a spot.
Great place off a smaller lake. Dogs and baby loved it. First come first serve. Filled up fast after 3pm even on a Tuesday. 15$ a night. No cell service. Will definitely come again!
Just 16 campsites but most are large and all are on the lake. It has the basics, pump for water and pit toilets. Nightly fee is $20, self registration, and there is a small boat launch. Close to Pictured Rocks and I would recommend it.
Awesome campground! Great view of the lake and nice and quiet with great privacy. Lots of space! But beware; sand people do roam.
WARNING: Google Maps sent us down Baker Grde, a two-track that was absolutely unsuitable for towing our camper!! We nearly got stuck in the sand (thank God for my 4 x 4!!). Between the sand and the narrowness of the two-track, we bent a jack stand, lost our license plate and broke the vent cover to our stove. It was the longest 3.5 miles we've ever driven!
PROS:
Rustic campground with 16 large, wooded sites. Fifteen sites are on the lake and the 16th is on a pond. Sites are suitable for tents or medium/large campers. The campground was pretty full while we were there and campers were fairly quiet.
The lake is large and clean but appears to be over fished. It is perfect for canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards.
There is potable water available via handpump, but very high in iron (water has orange appearance).
Location is great for site seeing along the Pictured Rocks National Shoreline.
Vault toilets were clean.
Loons were wonderful to listen to!
There is a boat launch and picnic area near the entrance to the campground
CONS:
Very close to M-58, although traffic sounds weren't terrible. We prefer something more remote.
No cell service. We did enjoy being unplugged, however.
Lots of dead trees in the water are, well, ugly.
Closest store is the Melstrand General Store 20 miles to the west.
