The site numbers are painted on the concrete road, no signs are available. Look down!
For non-powered sites, Site # 2, 4 and 6 are on the edge of lake Superior, giving superior view. (No pun intended) 6 has the best view with the least trees but also can be quite windy at night.
Walk-in sites such as 12-15 need some footwork to bring all your stuff to the site. Cars can only be parked some distance away.
Also no firewood for sale on-site. Bring some along the way to save another 15 mile trip.
In all great campground!
A beautiful state park! Went for a day trip from northern Wisconsin. The waterfalls are gorgeous. Pretty easy hike to see them on a very well constructed boardwalk. Pictures do not do it justice.
25 years ago My wife and I met here... first come first serve camping.
I have been to every state park in Michigan, and this is tops. The river has cut incredible formations into these series of falls, in my opinion the most breathtaking falls in Michigan.
I AM biased, but this campground has it all for the nature lover.
Not a circus like other campgrounds, basic camping with basic services.
Down the steps to Lake Superior where river meets is where all your daily worries fade in view of the natural splendor.
AMAZING star watching at night.
If I had to recommend any destination, this would be number one.
The drive is 8 hours, the memories are forever.
