New Cabins/Cottages Have Arrived!
Our first time staying at this Thousand Trails park. We stayed in "A" Loop as there were more trees and more secluded than the others. Being winter, there were very few people in the park. We were one of only three RVs in A loop the whole two weeks we were there. The spaces are gravel, pretty level with room between campers. They have just enough room for our 42' fifth wheel and dually pickup. Every site has a picnic table. It seems everyone picks up after their animals because we never saw any problem with that. There are no fire rings, but propane fire-pits are allowed. The office was very nice and has a theater room off to one side, for family movie nights. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. There's another activity building further back in the park. It has clean bathrooms, games and puzzles, tons of books, an old worn out piano, and more. The laundry room was nice, 4 washing machines and 4 dryers, all $2 each. The pool and hot tub looked awesome. We were too cold and didn't want to get in swimsuits for the hot tub, but others were in there and seemed very comfortable. There are several social things planned by the office each week, even though we had other things going on and couldn't attend. Cell and streaming service worked great with our ATT hotspot. The ONLY reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the roads are badly in need of repair. We were told that the public areas like bathrooms, office, laundry, etc will be getting updates soon. Once that is done, then the road is going to be redone. They're full of potholes and just all around miserable. We will be back to this park even if the roads aren't finished yet. We loved it out there! We greatly enjoyed getting to know Wendy Fox who helped us figure out the best Thousand Trails package for 2023 and beyond. We wanted to upgrade from the basic package we'd had last year. A pleasant experience without a hard-sell attitude from her.
Quiet campground. Bathrooms were clean and the park was well maintained. The D loop had the least potholes and nearest to the entrance. Lots of shade in each site. Pay attention to water runoff as some sites don't drain as well as others. The stitchin' shack has an amazon hub locker 5 min away, friendly people.
We have really enjoyed our stay here at Lake Whitney. The sites are nicely treed and the way they are situated make them pretty private too. The lodge near the lake is good, the pool looks good though it was closed most days because of weather so we didn't use it. However, both the pool and hot tub are kept very clean. We were in A - pullthrough section. There are quite a few sites in this section without sewer connections, so a honey pot is a good thing. Saying that, the shower house is centrally located and also clean. The lake trail is lovely! The main road through the park needs some work, so make sure you go slow! They do try to maintain it filling holes with a clay-like substance. It helps, but ideally would be great to have much of the road resurfaced. Staff is great at check in too! Very helpful for restaurants, etc. in the area. We don't have anything bad to say about the park and would definitely return! The park is also a very easy in from the highway!
Very disrespectful staff. Don’t even bother trying to communicate your need a with them they will revoke your membership on a dime. Don’t believe me look them up on YouTube and you will see many others talking about their horror stories. Please do your self a favor and skip this hole.
This diamond in the rough needs some work, The roads NEED work, the trees need trimming. Some of the trails need work too! The staff was great and friendly! Within reasonable drive distance from Fort Worth and Waco.
