My favorite place to go camping. It’s a family friendly camp ground go every year for Memorial Day and my birthday. My kids love going to see friends they made the year before and they love the beach.
We visited Lake LaDonna today and were rained out not 5 minutes after choosing our spot in the sand. I understand refunds can’t be given due to weather, but my complaint is we’d been there the week before to pull up to the beach being closed to the public, so this was our second go in less than a week. The first visit the employee working the booth stated she was sorry and she thought the owner had posted on the Facebook page. There was nothing posted on either the fb page or website stating the beach was closed to the public for that day. So now I have driven 30 minutes each way on 2 different occasions and not been able to access the beach. The weather is beyond their control, but they were not willing to even provide a voucher for us to come back after not being able to access the beach our first trip due to lack of communication on their part. The manager even stated they encourage people to call to be sure the beach is open. How would someone know that if they haven’t been before? I love to support small businesses but will not be returning to Lake LaDonna and will advise others not to as well. Very poor business practice.
Nice clean campground. Well maintained. Littles had lots to do, swimming, crafts, Halloween night , band. Very nice. 45 min. of swimming,15 min. breaks. Could go longer. Speed limit 5 mph. Watch your littles, a lot of residents with golf carts don't adhere. That is reason for not getting a 5.
Nice campground with fun sandy beach with swing, slide, and trampoline. Good sized sites. The main comaint is the freight train 20-50 yards away that blows its horn for the nearby intersection about 6-9 times per day (including overnight) based on our recent weekend there.
This place is one of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever seen. It is VERY apparent that they take excellent care of the grounds and show an abundance of pride in the appearance if their park. The staff was very friendly and the campers all seemed to be happy. If you are retired military or even an ex boy-scout you will absolutely love it. Tell Virgil I said "Hi"!
