About Campground

Overview

Lake Dorr Cabin is set along the south shore of beautiful Lake Dorr, ideal for a family getaway. The cabin is open year-round and creates a great setting for plenty of outdoor water fun. The rental includes a private boat ramp, canoes and a fishing dock. It's located just over an hour from popular amusement parks and other exciting attractions in Orlando.

The cabin entrance and bathroom is accessible. A flat section on the property fits two tents if guests wish to camp outside.

Recreation

Boating, skiing, jet skiing, fishing and swimming are among the most popular activities for guests. The abundance of largemouth bass, crappie and pan fish entice anglers.

A private boat ramp, fishing dock, picnic table, grill and three canoes with life vests are provided.

Facilities

Lake Dorr Cabin is a modern, newly restored facility with polished hardwood floors and large windows that overlook the lake. The cabin sleeps 10 guests, with a queen bed in one bedroom, two sets of bunk beds in the other bedroom and two sleeper sofas in the living room. Electricity and drinking water are available, along with a flush toilet and hot shower. Modern amenities in the kitchen include a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and electric stove.

Guests should bring food, bedding, dish soap, sunscreen, towels and all other basic camping supplies and lake gear. [Click here](http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/ocala/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=40245&actid=101) for more cabin details.

Natural Features

The cabin rests on the south shores of the lake, with shady Palmetto palms and other tropical vegetation. Views of Lake Dorr, which spans 1,760 acres, are impressive from the cabin grounds.

Ocala National Forest boasts more than 600 lakes, rivers and springs, including three first-magnitude springs.

Nearby Attractions

Altoona lies directly south of Lake Dorr, with gas stations and conveniece stores. Umatilla is a little farther south, offering grocery stores and pharmacies.

The cabin is about 50 miles from Daytona Beach to the east and the city of Orlando to the south. Both trips take just over an hour and offer many opportunities for entertainment.

Directions

Lake Dorr Cabin is at the southern end of Lake Dorr. Follow SR 19 north from Altoona. Turn left on East Altoona Road onto McCall (CR 8378) to reach the cabin. Total trip takes less than 10 minutes.

I know this is a fantastic lakefront cabin. Been watching for an availability. 5 mos. ago I spotted an opening in 5 mos I booked the opening and have been waiting for months and building up the apprehension. Well that day finally arrived but sadly so did Hurricane Ian. The cabin closed and we got a refund. The place is booked solid till Jan. when next year's availability is opened on the website. Well try again.

We come here yearly. It is a wonderful place with great memories. It has become a little worn over the past 2 years but still great. Room for 10 people. Nice layout, very spacious. Lake and views are fabulous.
