KRAUSE SPRINGS is a well-known camping & swimming site located in the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. It is located in Spicewood, Texas approximately 30 miles west of Austin. The 115 acre property is listed on the National Registry of Historical Sites and has been privately owned by the Krause Family for over 50 years.
Krause Springs has many natural sites to explore. There are 32 springs on the property, and several feed the manmade pool and the natural pool which flows into Lake Travis. It’s a refreshing treat to swim in the Springs during the hot summers of Texas! If camping is in your plans, there is primitive tent camping as well as 24 RV sites with water and electricity available. Guests are also welcome to relax and to stroll through the Butterfly Gardens; take time to listen to the music of the wind chimes and the fountains during your visit!
We take reservations for RV hookups ONLY. Primitive tent camping is available on “first come-first site” basis. Please call our office at (830) 693-4181, to check RV site availability and book your stay.
We love our pets just as much as you do, but please keep them at home.
From Austin, Take Texas Highway 71 west
Cross the Pedernales River, Drive 7 more miles
Turn right on Spur 191 at the Exxon Station
Turn right on County Road 404
You will see the gates for the Krause Springs entrance to your left.
I couldn’t find many reviews or pics of the RV hookups so this is dedicated to the 24 they have. Not on pads but many well shaded under legacy trees. Easy access to the pools but tucked away in the back of the property. Grills and fire pits at each with steel picnic tables. VERY well maintained. Short walk to to toilet/showers.
30 and 50 amp hooks with the usual 110 outlets. Solid and worked great. Water has good pressure and tastes great.
Hookups are in far back of each spot so bring extensions; my 50 foot hose JUST made my connections at the front of our rig.
Also know the sites are pretty tight to each other. Fine on a quiet weekday but might be a little close for your tastes on weekends.
Overall a beautiful camp, especially this close to ATX.
best place i’ve been!!!! the butterfly garden was STUNNING amidst the hot texas weather, it was such a beautiful oasis. the waterfall was the star of the place and the water was so refreshing! the rope swing was a huge hit as well! there is SO much camping space with picnic tables at each place. everywhere is a easy walking distance from the water. 10/10 place, i wish i didn’t have to leave!
Had a great time here during my birthday week! Not too crowded when I went . The garden was so peaceful and lovely, the pool was dope and the mini waterfall and natural pond that you can swim in was the best! Felt like a hidden gem!
Just magical. We went on a Wednesday and it was basically empty. We enjoyed swimming, walking around the property, taking photos by the waterfall, and especially laying in the garden hammock and listening to the wind chimes. Definitely check this gem out!
What a lovely place. Absolutely spectacular. Was blown away by all the features of the place. the pools, the river, the garden. We were lucky enough that our vans were able to make it done to the river side camping area. if you have a vehicle that can do it. its a great spot down there. had a really great time. definitely worth every penny. look forward to hopefully coming back.
