this place is magical. We went there for a small photoshoot at the sunset. There were quite a few campers but all friendly. We hiked, took photos and waited for the sunset.

If you want to see saguaro cactus and other cacti plants in the wild this place is a must visit. On the way there we past by some kind of ghost town attraction but we didn't stop. It might be worth visiting.

Perfect for a few days! Nice hiking trails. Lots of cowboys and horses 10am to 4pm. Watch out for when it rains, move to higher ground! We ended up with a perfect lake front camping spot after a good rain, lol.

Arrived Friday to horse camp and ride the Superstition Mountains. Late afternoon 3p Sherriffs showed up stating USFS had issued an order to close it to overnight camping. In the morning USFS could site us for trespassing. There are zero horse camping campgrounds any where in the neighborhood. My 30 ft on the flat LQ horse trailer fits in none of their tiny trail head parking area for day rides. The reason given was habitat damage and trash. There was zero trash, all people except one quiet and polite. In the one ride I was able to do no off trail damage noted. By the time I packed the horses up etc it was 5 pm. How can one find another site in the dark with a long rig? This site has been used for a long time. Poorly done such short notice. How about a horse camp ground?

Fun spot to camp. Beware of the many cactus species. The Superstitious Mountains makes for a beautiful backdrop. There are trails for you to walk on or take a horse. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the trails. There is abundant space.to park your vehicle and set up your tent/camper etc. This area is known to have rattlesnakes so if you've never been in territory with venomous snakes I recommend contacting Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary and enrolling their courses, if nothing more than to provide you with confidence. Several folks brought horse trailers loaded with horses and toured far up into the trails.
