This site is set along the Upper Salt River, which allows for great water reaction activities. Nearby are impressive views of mountains, canyons, and wildlife. Because of its close proximity to the Salt River, HZ Wash allows fishing and non-motorized boating. There are plenty of dispersed campsites available at HZ Wash, which allows for an easy, quick escape during any time of the year for families or individuals. HZ Wash is not a developed site, but does allow for easy access to fun recreation.
Walked through the flowing water water with my man and my dog. It was a cool little adventure.. mostly because my pup isn't usually in to water and he suddenly transformed into a water dog! 🤭💦🐕👬💦 The catfish were HUGE 🐟
Good rest stop nearby. On-site host / seems like someone is living here full time. No running water in the sinks/bathrooms, but a decent rest stop anyway. Worth a stop if you’re passing through. If you’re headed up through Young during winter season, beware: you will need snow chains and/or a 4x4 vehicle and yet that may still not be enough. The road beyond here (North) is not suited for snowbirds / tourists. Respect the speed limits and pack out anything you bring in. This is one of the most beautiful stretches of Arizona. Let’s keep it that way.
