From McCall, Idaho, take Highway 55 north toward New Meadows. After 4 miles turn left onto Forest Road 257 and follow signs toward Brundage Mountain Resort, Goose Lake and Hazard Lake. After the road turns to gravel continue for 22 miles up to the lake.
Awesome if you love people driving around on 4 wheelers and razors 24/7
Beautiful sunsets and a quiet lake make this a wonderful camping destination. Only problem is the lack of trees and geography make every campsite a loudspeaker to the rest - if you have any marginally noisy neighbors you will hear them.
A very quiet campground with good tent and trailer sites. No trash or water available, so pack your own in & out. It does have pit toilets, which were nice and clean when we visited.
The area burned in ~1994, so it isn't quite as scenic as other campgrounds a bit further south, but it is still pretty in its own way. Lots of hiking trails and OHV roads around, but they suffer from the fire in terms of views as well.
Overall, I would camp here again.
The dirt road up to the CG is a slog but go slow & the trip is worth it. One of the prettiest places we have been. Gets full on weekends!
