Wow - Green Lane Park was gorgeous on my hike this afternoon. I did parts of three trails - the orange, the red and the green. They have maps at different stops show all the trails. There is a 2 mile loop around the lake at the Park, and the trails go around the reservoir. The views were stunning, and the trails were AWESOME.
A relaxing early afternoon day spent sitting under a tree by the lake and enjoying the tranquil views of the water slowly rippling with the gentle breeze that’s common this time of year. You’ll feel creative, refreshed, and without stress and you can take rent a small boat, fish, or enjoy what nature offers. A true gem of Montgomery County!
Abundance of backwood narrow trails accent the wider flat paved trails .All available for walking ,some for biking and equestrianism .
Beautiful scenery but the bugs like it too , be prepared
Just when you think you've seen all of Green Lane Park, you find other entrances and trails. It's one of my consistent go to spots for a good meditation walk. I'll take my kids there too. And the fishing is ok as well. I've caught a few good sun rises and sunsets there as well in various parts of the park.
We had a very nice outing at Green Lane Park. We hiked on the Orange Trail (East Loop) since we didn't know exactly what we could expect (in terms of difficulty and condition). It's an easy to medium difficulty route. It' wasn't too bad except there were some downed trees that blocked across the path in several points, and it was muddy and slippery after the overnight rain. I'd recommend a good pair of hiking shoes because of the exposed tree roots and rocks. There also are some hilly sections with rocks and roots. No strollers here. It's mainly tree covered for nice shades.
The main parking lot where the Park Office is located offers gender-free public bathrooms, decent playground, shady picnic area with grills, and access to the lake for shore fishing. There also are a rustic bungalow (available to rent) and a very nice pavilion nearby. It looked like at least one time there was a snack bar, but it wasn't open when we visited.
If you walk over the dam of the lake, you can reach another large green area with a pavilion and a large band stand where concerts are held with its own large parking lot.
You can easily spend a whole day here hiking, picnicking, fishing, cycling (Perkiomen Trail runs thru this park), etc. Enjoy!
Oh, if your GPS takes you to Snyder Road, ignore it since the bridge entrance is closed.
