Come explore Fort Boggy State Park – its trails, primitive campsites, cabins and 15-acre lake. We’re halfway between Houston and Dallas along I-45
Stay at a cabin in the woods or reserve a primitive hike-in campsite. The park has restrooms and an outdoor shower near the lake. Pets are not allowed in or around the cabins.
Primitive sites: Maximum distance from trailhead to site is one mile. These sites have no electricity or water. Pack out everything you bring in.
Cabins: They are within walking distance of the main parking lot (100 yards), restrooms and an outdoor shower. Cabins do not have bathrooms. No pets are allowed in or around the cabins. Up to eight people (five inside and three outside) can stay at a cabin.
Small but so worth the stop! Great walking trail to take your fishing pole around the lake and a small dock. Love the Texas state parks and this is a hidden gem, not well advertised from the roads but is worth investigating.
Quite a neat little park to stop and take a break at. Not the biggest park, but offers a neat lake to swim and kayak in. They offer single and double person kayaks. The singles are $20 and definitely makes a visit to the park quite worth it. The cabins they have to offer are quite amazing! They have AC and even have their own screened in porches with rocking chairs. I haven't ever seen state park cabins with the level of amenities these have.
What a great park! It is a small but nice park. The cabins are new and have a modern rustic feel. Very cool. New air conditioned restrooms and showers are very nice too and match the cabins' architecture. The cabins do not have running water inside but there is water outside the cabin. No restroom in the cabin either but new restrooms close by. The screened porch is great and there is also an unscreened deck with an amazing view of the woods. Be aware that the park will require a $100 refundable deposit on check-in. Loved this place!
UPDATE...my family from Houston decided to gether together at the state park. We had a blast! The cabins are amazing, best cabins at a state park, we evert stayed in. The cabin area has enough room for us to sit around the camp fire, cook, play games, and laugh.
On my way home to Dallas from Houston, I stopped by to check out the cabins. The cabins look amazing and spacious. We plan our family Thanksgiving camping trip in advance, this is midway for my family in Houston. We plan to book the cabins for our family get together. Oh, the restrooms look amazing!
Very nice state park! We came here because it was on the list of least visited state parks, so we decided to check it out! Arrived on a Wednesday around noon and set off on a hike. The trails are well maintained but not well marked, so take a picture of the kiosk map or take a park map with you. Really, the trails are short, so not much chance of getting lost. When we finished our hike I grilled some lunch and relaxed while enjoying nature. We enjoyed our day at Fort Boggy! Facilities are clean and well maintained. Staff are warm and inviting. We enjoyed it so much that when we got home we reserved a cabin to take our grandson camping when the weather warms up a bit. I highly recommend Fort Boggy State Park.
