ALL of the 1star reviews are true. We have been to multiple KOAs and this is by far the worst. The owners are ignorant and treat you like you are children with a bedtime. We were quietly speaking around our campfire at 11:20. The one worker snuck up on out site and gave a spiel about there 3 strike warning. “Strike 3, you don’t want to go there.” This same guy was daily speeding around on his golf cart with disregard of the children walking around. There were NO activities going on the entire week. The lady working the desk was so flustered and obviously couldn’t handle more than one person at a time and had a terrible attitude. Made sure she STRESSED all of the rules and incessantly circled all of the rules with a pen and spoke sternly. Friends of ours got there at 2:57pm with a 3 pm check In. They wouldn’t even start the paper work and made them stand there for the 3 minutes until they would take care of them. Unless you like a strict, stressful environment where you feel like you are being watched constantly and have ridiculous rules, I suggest you book elsewhere. We will not be returning and I will pass this along to all of our camping friends so they won’t waste there money. Also, even after being there for three whole days our water was still running brown…. Very disappointing
I didn’t read the reviews prior to booking this stay and I really wish I did. Evidently, there are new owners since the last time we camped at the Erie KOA. They are unwelcoming and unappreciative of their customers.
We paid the same for a site as we would at any other KOA however, there were no planned activities for the kids, the camp store closes at 6 during the week and 7 on the weekend, low volume conversations by the campfire are frowned upon anytime after 11 and the list of rules is very long.
If by chance you do have to be “spoken to” for breaking one of the many rules, prepare to feel like a small child.
No outside firewood allowed. My husband was told this was due to invasive bugs. Ok, fine. However, one of the other rules is that you are not allowed to pick wood/sticks up off the ground to burn either.
My parents drove an hour and a half to drop something off for my daughter’s birthday and were told they had 15 minutes exactly to drop it off and leave or the credit card on file would be charged. They went back to the office and paid 8 dollars per person as well as 5 dollars to park their car to stay for an hour to stretch their legs and visit before hopping back in the car to drive.
Really unfriendly, unfortunate and uncomfortable camping trip. I do not recommend until there are new owners.
If you want a wild Stephen King experience- stay here.
Mine was about- making sure my credit card was only charged two nights. We thought we might stay an extra night, but she tried to collect it from us before we even stayed there. When I went in this morning, I was accused of being loud, obnoxious, she made my husband pour out my coffee and blew up on me. I swear I think she’s bipolar. I told her I was going to call corporate, and she flipped out on me and said I was a tattletale. I’m not gonna call corporate. I’m just gonna write a review on her. I’ve dealt with mental illness before… Not quite sure who she is. she pretended like I was hurting her. It was the weirdest KOA experience I’ve ever had. Later on, I tried to see from the husband if he could look at my propane tank. This is exactly what he said to me “I don’t know if that will go over very big inside the office“ I looked at him and I just patted his arm and said I’m really sorry. We laughed, but got our moneys worth anyway. Do not stay here.
Horrible experience!! Owners were totally rude and out of control. Long story short... Owner basically ambushed us in evening after 11pm and threw us out. No warning nothing. She even called the State police! Apparently you are to be inside cabin and sleeping at 11pm. They even charged us an extra 300$ for being to loud and taking to long packing up. Made us wake our kids up... one child was under 2 yrs old! Lady would not even talk rationally to us. Complete psychopath!! DO NOT GO THERE! Read all these reviews... It seems to happen on a regular basis. Unbelievable.
We enjoyed our recent stay at the Erie KOA. Staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept and the gorgeous fall colours made our walks so enjoyable. The bathrooms were spotless. We have stayed here several times with the new owners and have never had an issue. We are experienced campers and appreciate quiet hours.
