I didn’t read the reviews prior to booking this stay and I really wish I did. Evidently, there are new owners since the last time we camped at the Erie KOA. They are unwelcoming and unappreciative of their customers.
We paid the same for a site as we would at any other KOA however, there were no planned activities for the kids, the camp store closes at 6 during the week and 7 on the weekend, low volume conversations by the campfire are frowned upon anytime after 11 and the list of rules is very long.
If by chance you do have to be “spoken to” for breaking one of the many rules, prepare to feel like a small child.
No outside firewood allowed. My husband was told this was due to invasive bugs. Ok, fine. However, one of the other rules is that you are not allowed to pick wood/sticks up off the ground to burn either.
My parents drove an hour and a half to drop something off for my daughter’s birthday and were told they had 15 minutes exactly to drop it off and leave or the credit card on file would be charged. They went back to the office and paid 8 dollars per person as well as 5 dollars to park their car to stay for an hour to stretch their legs and visit before hopping back in the car to drive.
Really unfriendly, unfortunate and uncomfortable camping trip. I do not recommend until there are new owners.
