A hidden gem for sure. Free camping on the shore of Moose Head Lake. Very well maintained. quiet place to make some memories with your family.
It was a nice little campground I. The middle of nowhere. But even though it was in the middle of nowhere I still couldn't unload my ATV I side the campground, but if I drove 50ft away, I could. Many larger campgrounds in Maine that have power and are in more tourist locations allow ATV's in the campground. I am assuming the problem with Cowan's cove is that it is state operated.
Best hidden gem ever! Free sites directly on the lake. Cowan West is amazingly close to Kineo
