About Campground

This KOA truly makes the most of its beautiful Downeast Maine setting, with much of the campground preserved as woods and natural spaces. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature as you explore our hiking trails or just relax at your site. Bring your big rig or stay in one of our cabins, domes or rental trailers. This pet-friendly KOA offers a fun schedule of events, for both kids and adults, as well as there being a pool, playground, outdoor games area and gift shop. We have Arts & Crafts several times a week, Bingo on most Tuesday and Saturday evenings, pancake breakfast on Saturdays, fire truck rides on Saturday afternoons and theme weekends and related activities planned throughout the day on Saturdays. Most of our activities take place in and around our large pavilion, which is also available for rent for your special occasion. We have two food service locations on the property for you to enjoy. Red Barn Pizza & Cafe offers up our delicious homemade pizza, (which we even deliver to your site for free), a wide selection of sandwiches/paninis/wraps, lobster rolls, hot dogs and even our freshly made mini donuts. Holden A Kone is the place to go if you are looking for an ice cream treat. We serve 30 flavors of Gifford's famous hard serve ice cream and 28 flavors of soft serve ice cream, so let your imagination run wild and allow us to create a yummy and refreshing dessert for you. If you are looking to explore the area, we are centrally located and only a short drive from some of the most beautiful areas and attractions of Maine. From Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, to Fort Knox and the Observatory in Bucksport, or the quaint little seaside towns or the Moosehead Lake Region, there is something for everyone to enjoy and to be awe inspired from the experience. We are always available to answer your questions or to help you enjoy your stay with us here at Bangor Holden KOA!

First and foremost, as of 2023, this KOA is under new ownership and management. All of the negative posts I've read relate to the previous owner. This is a very nice park with friendly and helpful staff. The new owners are making upgrades during the season and have more upgrades scheduled during the off season. There is a huge and well stocked camp store and attached to it is a small cafe. One of the cafe's specialties is "breakfast pizza." The park presently has a great many seasonal sites. A few of those sites are really ratty looking and take away from the otherwise clean look of the park. That may change under the new ownership. When we arrived there was music scheduled for one night and it ran until after 9PM. We were far enough away that it wasn't a bother, but if you had a site close by to the music stage and wanted to turn in early, you might have been dissapointed. Due to traffic patterns, this park can be tricky to get in and out of. This isn't the fault of the park, it's just the way it is. Next to the park is an ice cream store with some great tasting ice cream. The park has amenities for kids and a nice swimming pool. Don't hesitate to stay here, you won't be disappointed.

We were here working here and had to change campgrounds due to a reservation issue. We reached out to the campground after we had called numerous other campgrounds with no availability. It was after hours when we spoke with Sara. She said she had a spot available. It was around 10 PM by the time we got there, but Sara met us at the check-in point and was really very cordial and welcomed us with a great attitude.

The whole time we stayed Sara and Lance ( managers) and all of their staff went out of their way to help us and make our time their more comfortable than any other campground that we have visited. That is really amazing considering we have traveled from East coast to west coast and Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and all around the US over the years. We will recommend them to everyone we talk to and again Thank You sincerely for everything!!!

Such a great campground in Holden, Maine! Stopped due to a truck break down on our way back to Canada. The owners were just amazing! So welcoming and eager to help us. We have three children who loved the playground, the ping pong and the sparkling swimming pool. Everything was very clean and you can tell that the new owners are working round the clock to make improvements. Washrooms were extremely clean. On site ice cream and pizza were delicious and convenient. Highly recommend!

Stayed here for the Summer 23 Season. Lance and his crew really worked hard all season upgrading the place and if you ever needed anything they were great. Disregard the negative old reviews from prior ownership. Would of signed up for next season but work isn't gonna have me up there.
