From Lake City, CO, take State Rt. 149 south 9.1 miles to Deer Lakes and Forest Rt. 788 signs. Turn left at signs onto Forest Rt. 788 (dirt) and go 0.1 miles to campground.
Amazing views of the San Juan mountains and Lake Crystabal
My family went camping up there in 1976 or around there. We pulled a pop up camper to a remote area. There was stream running near by with fresh water for drinking. We camped there for two weeks. The only time we ever saw another person was when we went into Lake City after a week to stock up on supplies and take a 50 cent hot shower.
