Located between Penrose and Cañon City on County Road 67. Turn north on CR 67 just west of the Fremont County Airport. The entrance is four miles north of the turnoff and the campground is 1¼ miles west on the ranch road.
Nice quiet campground, good people. I love the pool and the shower/bathroom very clean. Always enjoy it here
This historical site is by reservation only and costs 15 dollars. Do not recommend showing up unannounced like I did. They're not welcoming, add you can't do anything w.o 1. The campground looked ok
It's kind of a hard one to review. The staff was very friendly. Several long-term residents -. not in a bad way. Pool area was nice, although we didn't use it. Our site was very pretty with a fire pit and picnic table surrounded by Pinon and juniper trees. It was also very unlevel side to side and we had to pull in head first and then back the truck out to get the utilities on the correct side. The road in was a bit washboarded but not too bad if you took it slow. The Campground driveway was rough from recent rain washout. The location is great if you aren't looking for amenities nearby, very quiet and peaceful. Price very good for the area. There was nothing to keep us from returning but wasn't perfect either.
Have only been staying here a few days but don't plan on leaving anytime soon. The owner is amazing. Her and the maintenance man, "Cowboy" helped us out a lot. We ran into a big problem when we first moved here that wasn't really our fault or theirs, but they helped us greatly to get the problem taken care of. These people actually care about you and aren't just out for your money and will make you feel at home. Can't say the same about the RV ranch down the road. This place is gorgeous and a hidden gem. You'll see all kinds of birds and wildlife and their cows are free range and will come pretty close too! Almost don't want to write a review cause I don't want too many people finding out about this place haha. The only thing is to make sure you bring stuff to level out your camper because it's on a bit of a hill/slant. We had no issues getting up the dirt road here.
