We showed and we had no power! We paid for power, no notice of no power. Other than that the site is very basic. They do have bathrooms and showers.
Lovely little park with several grassy tent spaces. Very nice restrooms as well. A bit of road noise from Hwy 40 but traffic is very light through the night. Would be a 5 star but for a disturbing encounter with a local who lives across the street from the tenting sites. He definitely did not seem to welcome ‘outsiders’ overnighting in the community. Very bizarre and unsettling. On the other end of the spectrum, an older gentleman walking by with his two dogs was friendly and cordial. I guess odd sorts can appear in small towns as well as on the streets of large urban areas.
I was on an assignment to the West fire and a few years back I was on the Peakaboo.fire. Maybell was a friendly place to be. It was especially nostalgic when I was standing in the park and the church bell began to ring yesterday.
Such a great park with amazing restrooms. Maybell is a neat little spot to spot on those long road trips.
