From this high location, there are nice views of Yeoman Park below. The cave is less than 1 mile from the campground, and other area trails enter the Holy Cross Wilderness. This is for you- yahoos out there. Although this is a wonderful cave for beginners it shares all characteristics of any significant hole in the ground- it is a trecherous, cold, brutishly slipery With steep places for all kinds of technique buildinf. Upgrades to the little rope pull over the past 20 years are so much appretitiated. This is agood technical cave with greatstuff wayyyyyyyy back in there passed that watermelon sized hole in the floor. Over the years, i have had the privilege of Running amuck in the muck of the front rooms a half dozen times or so and there are so many spots obe can get into trouble, please take a friend who knows what they are doing and you will be in for a real treat. Learn why so many of Colorado's seven hundred odd caves are not listed as yahoos keep desteoying them. Tales of fulfords former glory are true to those back rooms- picked over and vandelized, but there is hope in this mile long cavern has gems in the rough. Listed as the 38th state's 12th largest-she goes a good mile back. Please be safe and enjoy responsibly
Best cave for completely inexperienced spelunkers. Ropes are already provided in the couple of difficult regions of the cave, but no climbing gear is needed. The cave is moist and cool on account of the underground waterfall and creek that rushes through the end. Make sure you follow the cave to then end, it should only take between 1 - 2 hrs (depending on pace), and it is well worth it to see the magnificent waterfall. For second timers, there's and entire upstairs!
This cave was amazing! The .5 mile hike up is steep but it doesn’t take long. The entrance tunnel in the cave is a good way to determine if this is adventure is a “good fit” for you! Haha very tight entrance 😂 I would allow 3 hours next time I do this!
Bring: 3 light sources per person and extra batteries, helmet, long pants and long sleeves, and perhaps gloves. Super fun adventure and would recommend to anyone who is not claustrophobic.
