7 dispersed campsites for car camping along Pearl Pass Road. High Clearance required and 4x4 recommended to access all campsites. All sites are first come first serve. No facilities such as toilets or water are available. Maximum 5 day stay limit.
Drive 1/2 mile west of Aspen on Highway 82 to the Roundabout. Go around the Roundabout and turn right on Castle Creek Road. Drive 14 miles to the end of the paved road. Stay right. Campsites are 1.3 miles down Pearl Pass Road
Scenic, amazing views. Don't take Grandma's Oldsmobile, you'll definitely need something a bit more rugged.
The difficulty of this trail is highly dependent on snow conditions and the weather. In good conditions it’s actually quite easy for any 4wd vehicle. But not for inexperienced drivers! Snow can persist near the top well into July, check before you go.
If you haven’t driven this trail, you are missing out! The views throughout are amazing! Overall not a very technical trail, with only one section that could get tricky. If you can plan it, go in the Fall during the color change.
