Dexter Campground is located on the northern shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir. This campground and adjacent boat ramp offer plenty of room for large recreational vehicles and boat trailers. All campsites are first-come, first-served. Facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, pedestal grills, and vault toilets.
From Twin Lakes, CO, take State Rt. 82 east 3.8 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign and go 0.6 miles to campground.
Nice lake. Beautiful and serene. Camping and boat loading space. Day use is charged for $8 to be cash in an envelope.
Not a lot of people around. So it's a great spot to enjoy.
Twin lake is one of my favorite lakes in Colorado!!
And I cannot take Independence Pass in my way to Aspen without stopping here for couple of hours(at least). Usually I get my breakfast or lunch from Leadville and head to this campground to eat and enjoy the beautiful views.
It was my fault finding a campground after dark. However, I stayed 2 nights. Price was right. Right next to the lake and lots of people and activities going on all day.
The main reason for my 2 stars is the high winds off that lake at night. Most of the sites were on top of hills, so it made for very windy conditions.
Beautiful set of lakes, great for fishing and recreation. Got to visit this place for the first time, and absolutely amazing views. Lake can be choppy during high wind gusts, but calm most the time.
