The area is located 4.2 miles east of Woodland Park on Rampart Range Road, FDR 300. **Be advised that the road is a rough, rutted, washboard, native surface road and the posted speed limit is 20 mph. Hauling boat or camper trailers can make this drive especially difficult and slow.
Gorgeous trail but a ton of fisherman that lay their stuff out on the trail. We did the whole loop accidentally which comes in around 12 miles instead of the 3.5 advertised on all trails. It’s gorgeous but gets repetitive kept telling myself “just around the corner” a lot.
Stunning views that remind you how beautiful nature truly is. Lots of things to admire and enjoy along the 12 mile long loop, but we only ventured out for about two hours worth of it! Plenty of different terrain to explore as you progress, and kids & pets alike could certainly take part in walking the trail as well!
We took the rainbow gulch trail, it was very peaceful, and beautiful I however recommend taking bug spray.
